Joseph B. Holloway Memorial Scholarship Fund

Joseph B. Holloway & Valerie Feit

Joseph B. Holloway was a modern dancer, choreographer and revered teacher.  As a dancer, he worked in modern dance companies and opera companies around the world and taught dance at The Nat Horne Studio in Manhattan and Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, among others. Holloway later went on to become a highly successful director and producer of theatre, producing musical theatre both on and off-Broadway. He was a founding member of New Directions Theatre, a company dedicated to fostering, promoting, and advancing the art of theatrical directors.

As a dancer, Holloway was known for being a precise technician with a laser-like energy and focus. His choreography was highly theatrical and often included intricate story telling and magic.

Joseph Holloway was part of a lost generation of American Modern Dance and theatrical choreographers whose work was cut short by the AIDS epidemic.

We mark the twentieth anniversary of Joe’s passing by establishing the Joseph B. Holloway Scholarship Fund, which will provide assistance to Upper Ohio Valley children to attend the area’s premier dance studio, Oglebay Institute’s School of Dance.

Thank you for honoring the memory of Joseph B. Holloway with your tax-deductible gift to this fund in his name.
