Bellaire, Ohio: The All-American Town is a collection of original photographs and written reflections compiled by students at Bellaire High School. The students participated in a year-long teaching artist residency through the Rural Arts Collaborative, working under the direction of photographer and artist-in-residence Rebecca Kiger. The zine was edited by Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, editor and curator Judy Walgren.

Thirteen student photographers documented their lives and interests, using cell phones and point-and-shoot cameras. The zine concept was heavily influenced by Alec Soth's LBM Dispatch, a serial journal of photos and writings that unfolds state by state, telling the stories of how Americans are living today.

This project was supported by funding from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation and the EQT Foundation and delivered by Oglebay Institute. Bellaire High School art teacher Megan Ritchea served as the school liaison, providing logistical and classroom support throughout the residency. The Rural Arts Collaborative is a program of the Fayette County Cultural Trust. You can support Oglebay Institute's educational engagement by adding a tax-deductible donation to your purchase today.

Proceeds from sales of the zine go directly to the students who created it.
